my new favorite thing

christmas eve

we’ve had our meal, slipped into a food coma (primarily induced by the twice baked shrimp and cheddar stuffed potatoes), and recovered just enough to open the presents under the tree. we decided to do this tonight instead of tomorrow because R will be traveling to his grandmother’s to spend a little christmas weekend with the paternal side of his family in the swampland.  M will go too because a trip to the country for christmas is just what a dog needs.

i got a real weather station with wind speed checker and everything. i am so excited because i have coveted one such weather station in oregon since i heard of it this fall. it has been my red rider and i am busting with ralphie excitement to get it set-up and running.

so, i hope everyone that might run across this post has a great holiday season – whatever your way of expressing it.

i cannot help myself

i have to post a menu for FSM-mas eve dinner. it is just the way i am. it helps me think through ingredients and make lists for R to run to the store with…..

• Simple romaine, purple onion, green bell pepper and baby carrot salad with plain old italian dressing
• NY Strip with horseradish, garlic and rosemary rub
• Twice baked potatoes with sour cream, shrimp, sharp cheddar and parm/reg cheese
• Brandied white button mushrooms
• Roasted asparagus with balsamic vinegar and extra crunchy bacon crumbles
• Yeast Rolls

it helps me also to get over my bergermiester miesterberger.
